Sue started her career at Mars, in Sales Management in 1978 and various household brand management roles followed. She switched to brand marketing for Aristoc tights, part of Courtaulds Textiles in 1987 where she has risen through the ranks to Managing Director.
Outside of work, Sue’s main focus is her family. She also enjoys tennis and a wide variety of music.

Q. Who or what has most inspired you in your life?
A. My mum’s drive and ambition and my dad’s support in the work place, he’s my business confidante.
Q. Who do you consider to be the most inspirational people in the world?
A. Aung San Suu Kyi, the political activist who has been held under house arrest since 2003.
Q. What’s your definition of success?
A. Someone who is a ground breaker, who can make the numbers work and who is able to build a top team.
Q. What is the key to success?
A. Hard work, good teams, people who do the extraordinary, not the ordinary.
Q. What boundaries have you had to overcome in order to achieve success?
A. Being accepted as a female senior manager and believing in myself.
Q. What is the most important piece of advice you’ve been given?
A. Do what makes you happy.
Q. What advice would you give to women looking to get ahead in their career?
A. Build networks, keep your friends, have time for your friends and enjoy.
Q. What’s the most important thing in your life?
A. My family, my husband and daughter really give me a sense of identity.
Q. What’s the best thing that’s happened to you?
A. Meeting Steve and having a daughter.

A. The early death of my mum.
Q. What’s the best mistake you’ve ever made?
A. Picking the wrong life partner and then it turning out ok. I took the easy option when I was younger and made a wrong judgement, I wasn’t brave enough to see the problems.
Q. What’s your favourite item of clothing?
A. Fiorucci velvet jeans from twenty years ago and a printed top that I got in Rome.

A. Smart, I’m still developing my own style and new styles. I love fashion.

A. I depend on it!

A. My husband loves my work!.

A. Having special time for myself and my partner.

A. Always having to raise the bar and never being happy with the status quo, makes me driven to do better.
